Songs for Solidarity Podcasts
Songs of Solidarity is an interdisciplinary performance project exploring what an epic for our time might look like through stories of migration, displacement, belonging and survival, inspired by ancient traditions including Gilgamesh, The Aeneid and the Kalevala. Developed by Dash Arts and Projekt Utopia, the project brings together artists, academics and migrant advisors to explore epic storytelling and the experiences of migration. You can find out more about the project here.
The Songs for Solidarity podcast series opens up the conversations and research behind the project. Bringing together writers, artists, academics and other contributors, the series explores the ideas at the heart of the work, from ancient epic traditions and their contemporary relevance to migration, identity, belonging and the power of storytelling. The podcast provides an ongoing space for the project’s collaborators and wider voices to question, challenge and develop the ideas that will ultimately shape the performance.
What does it take to reclaim your voice when your country wants to silence it - and then take it on stage?
This is the second in our Songs of Solidarity series - conversations with artists, academics, writers and thinkers whose lives and work illuminate the themes at the heart of our new production: migration, displacement, survival, and the stories we tell to make sense of all three.
