Verbatim theater from Ukraine's war, live on stage. Director Josephine Burton + Peter Pomerantsev discuss the testimony behind it.
THE RECKONING
New York Preview | Ukrainian Cultural Festival
One man stayed in his village outside Kyiv when everyone else fled. This is his story, and yours to witness.
Drawn from verified survivor testimony of Russia's war in Ukraine, The Reckoning is verbatim theatre at its most urgent. Co-writer and director Josephine Burton brings newly adapted excerpts to New York, performed live by US-based Ukrainian actors, ahead of the production's full North American tour in 2027.
Alongside the performance, Burton joins Peter Pomerantsev, co-founder of The Reckoning Project, for a conversation on the testimony behind the work and the project's mission to document war crimes for future prosecution.
