AS YOU LIKE IT
Commissioned by Leicester’s £60m new theatre, Curve, Director Tim Supple’s 2009 production brought together a cast that reflected the exceptional range of international communities in the UK.
Actors from Rwanda, Kenya, Ghana, India, Malaysia, Syriah, Greece, Nigeria, Armenia, Jamaica, New Orleans, Cornwall and Leicester joined the search for another England – and another Shakespeare.
Disparate voices, telling of many journeys- some arduous and full of sorrow, some shot through with joy, Dash Arts’ Arden was a place of exile, flight and transformation; a liberating gathering of strangers and aliens.
Three of the extraordinary young cast went on to win awards for their work on the production.
