The Arabic Series
We are currently developing our next series of new commissions. Scheduled to begin in 2010, we will produce five major projects by artists from the Arab world. Working with artists from North Africa, the near East, the Arab Diaspora, and alongside key partners in the UK and abroad, we will present innovative theatre, music, dance and visual art of classical riches and contemporary vitality.
In theatre an epic production of an Arabic classic; In music a series of concerts celebrating the work of the greatest Arabic singer in living memory and an exhilarating international project bringing Arabic poetry into play with contemporary music; in dance a major new commission and in visual art a showing of the most exciting work by contemporary artists from the near East.
These five events and a full programme of discussions, lectures, films and pioneering participation projects with schools and colleges will make up an unforgettable body of work that will inspire dialogue, enquiry and insight.
We would like to thank ArtSchool Palestine, CAABU, The Live Art Development Agency, Tate Britain, IniVA, The Samual Sebba Trust, Three Faiths Forum, the British Council, the RSC, the Roundhouse, Sadler’s Wells and the Barbican for their support so far.
As You Like It
Commissioned by Leicester’s £60m new theatre, The Curve, we are currently casting and developing a new production of Shakespeare’s exquisite and bitter meditation on abandonment and purpose. This most English of plays will be re-defined by a company and creative team drawn from the incredibly diverse communities living in the UK.
